I don't mind, I don't want to get bored

(find out what song those lyrics are from, and listen to it)

yesterday, i filled out an online application to be a mall elf photographer. i'm burning with anticipation to see what happens. it's weird, because it's online i can't call anyone to see how it's doing and whatnot. i imagine it to be very fun with very long days with overly exhausted kids and parents alike. but i like photography, dressing up weird, and kids so it should be good. (especially if the technology and computers are better than a other certain portrait studio i worked at last Christmas season that broke down ALL the time.)

also, kareem's kind-of-surprise birthday party is sooooon *wink* and i'm so excited! i'm finishing up preparation these next few days (thank goodness for friends and their abilities). tuesday, on his actual birthday, 4 of us celebrated with 18 things:

1. spiderman cupcakes right at midnight
2. early morning kidnapping to eggs n things
3. back to kareem's house, where i got some delish hummus from his mama
4. car dealership (just 3 of them went while i got supplies for a surprise)
5. shave it (^^^)
6. i guess they bought cigarettes for his mama :(
7. walk to starbucks with portable speaker and hummus
8. come back to alyssa's while carrying a leftover Tom Glancy sign
9. sell alyssa's car to a girl in bedazzled uggs. pass go, collect cash.
10. leave for LA
11. get lost by going on the wrong freeway
12. on the way to dinner, find a big Out of the Closet thrift store. shop.
13. still on the way to dinner, stop in a really fun thrift store (where i got a vintage plaid DIANE VON FURSTENBERG shirt. i was dying.)
14. FINALLY make it to Fred 62, a great 24/7/365 diner place with every type of cuisine imaginable.
15. go to yogurt land, where it's self serve and the price is determined by the weight of the product.
16. went to Amoeba music, this HUGE music warehouse. it was magical.
17. go to 7-11 for scratchers! run into people and friends.
18. kareem gets a magazine.
19. we read the funny magazine in the car
20. drove around until it wasn't his birthday.

i was supposed to work that day too, but my babysitting family said they didn't need me anyhow, so that worked out well. however, i got home that night around 12:30, fell asleep at 1, and had to wake up at 6 to get ready for school. from the moment i woke up, i didn't feel like going to my 8:30 class because i'd read ahead. and as luck would have it, at 7, i got a call from my babysitting family, and the mom asked if there was anyway i could come over in the morning to watch the girl who was sick. the mom needed to run to LA and get work to bring it home. i said sure, and so from 7:30-9:30 i babysat. these days are getting so random.

I envy the spontanieous days that you are free to enjoy.

I don't think I can make it to the party.

Oh, and I'm reading The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
And loving it.
